Yes for developers who code most days and use the multi-file agent, but budget for more than the seat. New subscribers choose Plus at $8, which runs only Cursor's own models (Grok 4.7, 4.6, 4.5 and Composer 2.5), or Premium at $30, where Claude, GPT and Gemini are billed on top at API list price. A Claude-heavy month on Premium comes to $40 to $70. If you still hold the legacy Pro plan at $20, keep it. Skip Cursor if you code occasionally, still fit inside Cursor Free, or only want inline completions: GitHub Copilot Pro does that for $10.
Cursor's X Subscription tiers are Free, Plus at $8, Premium at $30, Super at $100 and Ultra at $200. Can I still get Cursor Pro for $20?
Not as a new subscriber. Cursor's docs say the legacy Pro, Pro+ and Ultra plans keep working for existing subscribers, with their two monthly usage pools and on-demand usage. New sign-ups pick Plus ($8), Premium ($30), Super ($100) or Ultra ($200). Cursor names Premium as the nearest new tier to Pro and Super ($100) as the nearest to Pro+. If you hold a legacy plan, think twice before cancelling it.
How do I know if Cursor Free is enough?
Watch one normal work week, not a weekend of experiments. If you run out every week, the next choice is about models: Plus at $8 if Cursor's Grok and Composer models are good enough for your code, Premium at $30 if you need Claude or GPT.
Cursor Premium or GitHub Copilot Pro?
Premium for multi-file agent work, cloud agents and codebase-aware tasks. Copilot Pro at $10 for inline completions and chat in VS Code with close GitHub ties. Should I pay for Cursor and Claude Pro at the same time?
Usually not on Premium, where you already pay list price for Claude inside Cursor. Claude Pro adds Claude Code for terminal agent sessions at a flat $20 and covers non-coding work. A cheaper pair is Claude Code on Pro with Cursor on Free or Plus: $20 or $28 a month in total.
Is a Cursor seat cheaper than calling the API directly?
Not on model cost. Cursor bills Claude, GPT and Gemini at API list price on top of the seat, so the $30 Premium seat pays only for the editor and the Grok pool. If that integration does not save you $30 of time a month, an open-source plugin with your own keys, or Claude Code on Claude Pro, is cheaper.
